Dr. Fröster: Interview with brand owner Ralph Thelen
Organic cosmetics from Germany - valuable ingredients, active complexes and technologies
Do you already know the organic cosmetic brand Dr. Förster? From the Leipzig doctor Dr. Walter Förster founded in 1927, it is one of the oldest cosmetic brands in the world. Today the company specializes in nature-based medicines, high-quality cosmetics and modern dietary supplements and is internationally known for the outstanding quality of its products. All products of the brand are developed and produced in Germany. Dr. Förster waives completely on microplastics, mineral oil, parabens, silicone and nanomaterial. Instead, modern, innovative complexes based on stem cell technology and ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and antioxidants are used in the manufacture. We met brand owner and entrepreneur Ralph Thelen and talked to him about the brand, his personal beauty tip and exciting new products:
Dr.Förster is one of the oldest cosmetic brands in the world - how would you describe the brand of today?
Dr. Förster is one of the oldest cosmetic brands in the world. On one hand. On the other hand, we have one of the most modern brands. This can be seen from the excellent recipes: contemporary without microplastics, parabens, sulfates, PEGs, etc. Charged with innovative anti-aging ingredients such as antioxidants and hyaluronic acid, right through to stem cell technology. In addition, there is one of the most innovative packaging - here we use airless dispensers and can greatly reduce the use of preservatives.
What was the biggest struggle while relaunching the brand?
The laboratory work! After many many consumer discussions and interviews, we developed and produced exactly what our customers wanted - a top-care cosmetic series with really working anti-aging ingredients and no harmful ingredients. And then - which only very few brands can do - we offer a beauty concept inside and out. Natural cosmetics AND nutritional supplements of the highest quality!
How did the brand come about in 1927?
A long history. And a big thank you to Dr. Förster, whose tradition we proudly carry on: tradition for almost 100 years and always at the pulse of customer requests and with the latest knowledge from science.
There are numerous natural cosmetic brands - what is your unique selling point?
No other brand offers almost 100 years of tradition in combination with high-dose anti-aging ingredients and stem cell technology. Our Dr.Förster beauty concept is a combination of natural cosmetics AND beauty food - for beauty inside and out.
Who is Dr.Förster's target group?
Our target group are open-minded customers who value high-quality anti-aging cosmetics. Knowing the market well and being familiar with the world of ingredients, i.e. see and appreciate our high quality standard (without microplastics, without parabens, without ...). We offer our high-quality natural cosmetics products through numerous sales channels: on the internet, for example Bestkosmetik, but also at airports and perfumeries and pharmacies in Germany and abroad. We want to be accessible to all customers. It is precisely in these turbulent times that the advantage of internet sales as with the Bestkosmetik is evident.
What new products can we look forward to?
Our sun protection series will soon be on the market. This moves in immediately and leaves no ´gloss film´. It is not white on the skin and does not turn the shirt collar yellow. Very important: it does not need homo salads, octocrylene, etc. We are also one of the first sun protection products to be coral safe, i.e. good for the environment and underwater world. And with full protection!
From the idea to the product on the shelf - where do you get the inspiration for new products and how are the ideas implemented?
Very easily! We ask our customers and combine this demand with the latest achievements in science and research.
What is particularly important when manufacturing a new product?
Technically: best formulation work and care and purity in production. Customers: to develop a product that corresponds 100% to the wishes and needs of our customers. The best example here is our Dr. Förster Vaporisateur.
Which Dr.Förster product is your absolute favorite?
I personally use all of our products. My absolute favorite is our Dr.Förster Anti Aging Body Lotion and our Dr.Förster Anti Aging Eye Gel: a miracle product after a long day. With our food supplements, it is very clear Dr.Förster Superberries. These are simply a part of a healthy start to the day and provide important antioxidants. It's simple: raspberry and blueberry, acerola and acai are on my muesli or yoghurt every morning.
Do you have an ultimate beauty tip for us?
There is no one beauty tip. But it is actually quite easy to listen to your body well and only let the best products on your skin.
